Jeanette was looking for ways to manage her Diabetes. Enter the Area Agency on Aging! We were able to connect her with exercise and educational classes that helped her to manage all aspects of her condition. Not only was she able to better manage her condition from what she learned, she had the opportunity to connect with others going through the same thing she was, which helped to manage her stress as well.

- Savvy Caregiver Program - This program is conducted in six 2-hour sessions which provides training to caregivers of individuals living at home and at least age 60 who have Alzheimer’s disease and/or related dementia disorders. No formal diagnosis is needed, The caregiver gains knowledge and skills to help the memory difficulties in the Caregiving Journey and how to identify, self-care issues.
- A Matter of Balance Program - Managing Concerns About Falls is conducted in eight 2-hour sessions and uses group discussion, problem–solving strategies, videos, and gentle physical exercise. Older adults aged 60 and over learn positive coping methods to reduce fear of falling and remain active and independent. Click here to see an example of a typical class.
- Chronic Conditions, Diabetes and Pain Self-Management Classes - This class is conducted in six 2-hour classes that provides support of various Chronic Health Conditions through self-management tools. Older adults aged 60 and over gain confidence to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.
