P.A.S.T.A. Parenting A Second Time Around Support Group
Caring for a grandchild is a rewarding but stressful task. Finding others who understand your experiences can be a great relief. Many grandparents find support groups help in dealing with the emotions that accompany becoming a parent again.
Support groups offer a safe atmosphere in which to share information, concerns, feelings, solutions, and coping strategies with others going through similar experiences.
The main goal of a support group is to create a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where members can share information and discuss concerns. Other primary goals are to promote fellowship and lessen the feelings of isolation, give support and encouragement to others, share coping strategies, work through negative emotions, strengthen self-esteem, concentrate on abilities (not disabilities), exchange ideas and resources, and make new friends.
