Census 2010
Every 10 years the Census Bureau takes a count of everyone in the United States. 2010 is the year for the US Census to occur.
- Getting a correct count is very important! Funding for social services, education, roads, and airports are among the many items whose funding is determined by the Census. It also determines the number of seats that each state will have in the US House of Representatives.
- Completing the Census is easy! This year, everyone will receive a short form of only 10 questions. It asks your address, whether you rent or own, and asks the name, gender, age, and race of those living in your household. It does not ask any financial information at all. If you need assistance to complete the form, the Census is setting up Questionnaire Assistance Centers in each county.
- Your information is safe! By law the Census cannot share an individual's responses with anyone, including federal agencies and law enforcement.
- When will the forms arrive? The Census forms will arrive in the mail in March. The Census is a count of people who are in household on April 1, 2010.
Please complete your form and return it in the mail as soon as possible. This will save the cost of having to mail you a replacement form or having a Census worker make visits to count in person.
