Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Expansion Grant

The Department of Elder Affairs was awarded a grant from the Administration on Aging (AOA) for the expansion of the Aging and Disability Resources Centers mission to serve an additional group of individuals with disabilities. In addition to serving individuals aged 60+, the ADRC has served individuals aged 18+, who live with severe and persistent mental illness.

The state is now partnering with the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas (AAAPP) to provide information, education, and options counseling to developmentally disabled individuals aged 50+ and their caregivers aged 55+.

Throughout this grant opportunity, the AAAPP will increase our visibility to a population of individuals seemingly untouched by our aging network. The AAAPP will formulate a Stakeholders group incorporating traditional aging network professionals with traditional developmentally disabled network professionals. The AAAPP has assisted and participated during the formation and implementation of a statewide and universal curriculum to better understand and serve the developmentally disabled population.

This ADRC expansion is a new chapter of serving the public. This grant allows us to further close any gaps in regards to service delivery, information, and education.
